The long night of Shiva Nazar Ahar

In these days when the whole world seems to have mobilized to prevent the stoning to the iranian Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, there are other women who risk their lives in Iran. And waiting for a ruling that could be a death sentence. Shiva Nazar Ahar is one of them. He's only 26 years, wrote on a blog and reporters working for the Committee on Human Rights (Chrr). From December 20, 2009 is in jail and will be processed tomorrow.
The real fault of Shiva is to be a journalist and has written articles unwelcome scheme. But among the allegations against him is the "propaganda against the regime" over the dreaded "conduct hostile to God." Charge that can carry the death penalty.
Shiva was arrested Dec. 20, 2009, on his way to the funeral of Grand Ayatollah Montazeri, a cleric who had criticized the government for the violent response to demonstrations that followed disputed elections in June 2009.
Arrested, so why was attempting to exercise his right to freedom of expression. The charges against you for having participated in the events of November 4 and December 7, 2009 "acting against national security" and only in April this year was also accused of "creating unrest among the public by writing Chrr on site and other sites.
Tomorrow will be an important day for Shiva, because after months in jail and in court will address the process that could also end with a sentence of death sentence.
Shiva is unfortunately not new to prison, despite his young age. Was among the founding members of the Reporters Committee for human rights and for his own work as a journalist and blogger has never been clearly seen from the scheme. His first arrest dates back to 11th September 2002, just 18 years.
Human Rights Watch urged the Iranian judiciary to apply due process in respect of Shiva, also enabling it to meet a lawyer for the time necessary to build his defense. It also invited to release the young woman for a year now in "temporary detention" in violation of international law and the Iranian.
She has denied all accusations against him and despite the absence of evidence the girl was forced to remain in jail all these months in very precarious conditions of hygiene.
In an interview with an Iranian newspaper, said Shiva's mother that her daughter now shares a cell with 26 other inmates. Despite the room there are only 21 beds. Shiva is then forced to sleep on the floor. The inmates are facing very difficult conditions, but this is almost nothing compared to the 33 days of isolation imposed on the young man in a space so small that they barely move. Now with the 26 cell mates sharing the little water, cold, available up to 3 hours.
In June this year, the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, had demanded the release of the young. Same request made by various human rights organizations and the European Parliament. Hautala, Chairman of the European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights, requested the immediate release of Shiva, under fire for its human rights and arrested only obligation of silence.
Tomorrow the judges will decide what to do with this young woman and this will be an even longer night than usual for Shiva Nazar Ahar.

Long live the nation. Down anglicized.

Tomorrow morning you wake up and probably turn on the computer, maybe to read emails or chat with a distant friend. We subscribe to a newsletter, and by true fans of the network, update your blog. Within a few minutes you will have to do with English words that have entered our common vocabulary of law. It does not happen only in Italy, it happens in France. But there have never particularly loved the English in their vocabulary.
So President Nicolas Sarkozy has decided to hold a competition just to abolish those English words and find other more suitable for using the French language. The President does not want to hear those words and many others like him. So students of national schools could send up to February 7, 2010, ideas, sent to the portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The contest is called Francomot and students will be able to invent new words that use some existing modified to make them closer to concepts related to the network.
Is not a total novelty for France because in the past several administrations have tried to block the advance of those terms that, were it not for the internet, would not be born and would not particularly popular around the world in a single language. So the French government continuously transmits to its offices to avoid the English. Thus, for example, that the word "chat" in French institution has become since 2006 "Dialogue en ligne", and "courriel" instead of email.
France's pride with their own language (as the only English spoken on five continents) and its history, so much so that perhaps one of the few countries in the world where the computer - Italy taxes paid long-term - is called "ordinateur.
Then on February 10 the jury Francomot will meet to consider the suggestions and February 17, at 18, Alain Joyandet, Secretary of State for Cooperation and Francophony, officially award the winners. France's pride with his language as indeed Spain and Italy? We are Fashion.

Eliminate the Digital Divide in Africa. Paul English.

Connecting to the Internet quickly check email, read the latest news and surfing the net to find information: Internet access now seems something normal. And many would feel lost without. Not so, however, throughout the world. Africa, for example, continues to be a continent where difficult access to the network. So now is born a new project that hopes to increase the spread of Internet in the South.

The idea is of Paul English, co-founder of Kayak, a search engine (also Italian version) for travel arrangements and then choose the cheapest option. English now has a new ambition: to bring African countries to the opportunities offered by the web. The African continent, in fact, still far behind in terms of information, with only 8, 7% of the population having access to the Internet. Not just for costs but also for the bandwidth available is very limited.
So he founded JoinAfrica.org Paul English, a project that will study the possibility of setting up wi-fi in Africa with two different access levels: the first is non-profit, completely free, and allows simple functions (such as control mail) and the second level allows complete access to the internet but this second phase will be run by African entrepreneurs.
The project is just beginning, but should work with the free wireless access points in villages, with the possibility of reading encyclopedias or online news sites should be limited and a number of such accesses to pornographic sites. The second phase, managed by local telephone companies, will instead make use of some paid services. The dissemination project of the Internet will last ten years and the reason Paul English has called "a big, big project." He is not new challenges, especially those related to network and over the past decade has acquired satellites, antennas and other equipment to bring Internet to several villages in Africa.
This project was launched thanks to a meeting with some graduates and students of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston. Since then English had no doubt want to complete the plan. Also because he could see in person, over the years he has worked in Africa, has changed the lives of some Africans through technology. For example, a doctor, unable to diagnose dermatitis was able to send a photo to a doctor in Boston and from there to find the cure.
Neither English nor other subjects involved in the project but more like talking. Because after all FastCompany's article, for once, seem to have affected them. And the site it clearly says "this project has had more attention than we wanted."
Currently exploit investment and co-founder of Kayak seem attentive only to complete their project, which could totally change the way people live in the South.

In Iraq begins the withdrawal of American

It took seven and a half of war, 4,419 U.S. soldiers killed an unknown number of civilians dead and a new president to see U.S. troops start withdrawing from Iraq. As reported by NBC, the last combat brigade has passed the night on the border with Kuwait, anticipating, in fact, the end of the commitment in direct combat U.S. Army, set for next Aug. 31.
The war that led to the overthrow of Saddam Hussein is finished and then, on paper. Four U.S. soldiers have crossed that same border that in 1990 Saddam Hussein's troops had crossed to invade the emirate. That, however, was another war. Why is the "Gulf War", adopted by the then U.S. president, George W. Bush believes that Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction (which were never found), led to only one certain result: the death of Saddam.
For the rest of the war has created deep divisions in Europe, including countries like Britain who fought alongside the United States (setting a high rate of casualties) and countries that have always preferred to remain against the war, like France.
It was not an unexpected withdrawal. Barack Obama has already announced, on August 2, the withdrawal of troops by the end of the month, when 50 thousand U.S. troops remain in Iraq with the task of training Iraqi security forces, protect U.S. personnel and facilities. The moment, however, is historic because it seems to mark the end of a war that could continue indefinitely.
Sure, Iraq today is not a country safer than March 20, 2003. Only two days ago, in fact, a new suicide attack was fatal for 61 people.
Former President Bush announced the end of hostilities on May 1 of 2003. It was only a propaganda speech, however, why the fighting in recent years have become even harder. And it was Bush's request in 2007, a considerable increase of men to combat violence in the country.
In this war the U.S. has paid one million dollars and it is understandable that Philip Crowley, spokesman for the State Department, declaring "we must do everything we can to protect this investment and to secure Iraq and its neighbors a situation peaceful serves our interests and to them. " The reality is that it will take months to see if the Iraqis fail to go it alone. The Iraqi general Babaker Zebari believes that before 2020 will be difficult for the military forces of Iraq take control of the country. It also said that the problems in Iraq will begin from the end of 2011, when Americans have left the war zone. Zebari's objections, however, were immediately rejected by the top American.
The withdrawal of troops from Iraq, in fact, will enhance the front of the U.S. in Afghanistan, where war continues instead. Iraq will be abandoned to his fate. Without a real government. And with the perspective advanced by some newspapers, that the forces of Al-Qaeda to step up their power.
With this retreat, the President holds the promise Obama made during his election campaign. Will the Iraqi people, once again, to pay the consequences of over seven years of war: the army goes away, but the violence is not intended to diminish.

The Indian economy, however, continues to grow.

While Western countries are trying to recover from the global economic crisis of 2008, any country in the second quarter of 2010 was able to have a gross domestic product growth of 8, 8 percent. India continues to improve its industrial production (achieved a +12%) and chases more closely the Chinese giant. It is not only the production to be increasing in the country. According to the Times of India, the average income of Indian citizens in the years 2003-2008 almost doubled.
But the growth has not even spared inflation, which is also increasing. So now that you watch with interest the Indian economy, many analysts have noted that, just the growth of inflation, may undermine the benefits of economic growth, especially against the poorest sections of society. If the increase in prices mainly affects the food sector: a key area of expenditure for the poorer classes. The uncontrolled increase in prices will only increase the growing gap, already strong in the country, between social classes.
Economic analysts have therefore called for caution, since the publication of these positive economic data in late August. The slowdown that other countries like Japan and the United States have in recent months could, in fact, also affect India.
The country is not completely rescued by every economic problem: the RBI, in fact, has many problems in trying to contain inflation which in July for the fifth consecutive month, has exceeded 10 percent.
The Indian economy, however, continues to grow. Are growing sales of motor vehicles and bank financing, safe index of the growing domestic demand and general confidence that the positive trend will continue. An example is Tata Motors Ltd, a leading Indian motor vehicles, which showed higher sales in July by 41%.
This economic growth in which the mining sector also experienced a 9 percent more, the only sector that seems to be stopped is agriculture, which was stopped at a 2.8 percent more, one of the levels lower.
While the world struggles with the crisis around the corner, India shares recover and today its GDP at purchasing power parity, is the fourth in the world after U.S., Japan and China.

Capitalism will continue to move forward, but yes!

The recent G20 Toronto ended with a single decision, to reduce the deficit in public accounts of the rich countries to avoid a collapse of the financial system, and general condemnation of the corruption that probably will not lead to any concrete measure, certainly not in Italy. The conclusion in short is that capitalism must be saved and stored as is, without any change.
There is no trace of an attempt to limit its negative aspects, groped for improvement, and there is no difference in attitude depending on the political color of individual governments. It 's the classic proof that the left is culturally and politically disappeared from the international scene, and you see a new horizon. U.S. President Obama departs part of this setting and promises to put a limit to the power of banks and increase public spending to sustain the recovery. But we must not forget that in the United States wealth differentials are much larger than in Europe and the welfare state is much weaker. In the world, despite the crisis, the rich are getting better and then they are certainly not worried. In Europe, cuts the deficit will be cut under the welfare state. The differences of wealth within society continue to rise, and so far it is very doubtful that Obama will really effective measures to prevent it.

No trace in the G20 meetings, present and future aid to poor countries, taxes on banks, on speculation and financial returns, rebuilding the economy to make it more sustainable energy, environmental and social. No measure to limit fossil fuels even as the Gulf of Mexico continues to be poisoned by oil.
No change, and why there should be, if the privileged of the world who have direct control over governments, are always better? Outside the gates of power are still very few protesters, imprisoned between repression and violence free end in itself, which serves neither to scare the powerful or to propose a different world.
Because in the end the few who have a genuine interest in keeping the world as it is, and worse, are united and harmonious. While the vast majority, that state of affairs has much to lose, is divided, in their closed little world of daily survival and drugged by television propaganda. And until people are few and remain conscious, capitalism will continue to move forward in one direction, but yes!

Paul English.
